Meet CTY Greece

Learning With A Purpose

CTY’s roots extend back to the 1970s and to the pioneering work of Johns Hopkins psychologist Julian Stanley, who focused on exceptionally bright young people and their capacity and enthusiasm for academic challenges that matched their advanced abilities.

"I have no special talent. I am passionately curious."

Albert Einstein
With these words one could summarize the philosophy of CTY, a unique nonprofit academic center that offers passionately curious students from diverse backgrounds, the opportunity to grow their love of learning and reach their potential.

Organizations

CTY Greece at Anatolia College is the culmination of the strategic partnership of three organizations with a long tradition in education and social contribution. Anatolia College, Johns Hopkins University in the US and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, all came together to establish a center that is unique to Greece and Southeastern Europe in general.

Anatolia College

Anatolia College is a not-for-profit organization with a long history, and contributions at all educational levels. Founded in 1886 in Merzifon in Pontus (modern-day Turkey), it relocated to Thessaloniki in 1924. Today it encompasses learning opportunities from Kindergarten to graduate levels, with a strong emphasis placed on the proper teaching of the English language. Known for excellence, innovative educational activities, high quality teaching, a liberal spirit and social contribution, Anatolia College has established itself as a nationally and internationally recognized educational center.

Johns Hopkins

Founded in 1876, Johns Hopkins University was America's first research university, a place that revolutionized higher education in America. Today it is a world leader in teaching and research. The university's Center for Talented Youth (CTY) was founded 100 years later with the goal of providing academic challenge and resources to highly advanced precollege learners. CTY contributes to the university's mission by preparing and nurturing the bright young people who will go on to make significant contributions to our world. Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth is an adviser to CTY Greece and licenses to Anatolia College some of the intellectual property used in the program. Anatolia College, however, is solely responsible for the CTY Greece program.

Stavros Niarchos Foundation

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (www.SNF.org) is one of the world’s leading international philanthropic organizations, making grants in the areas of arts and culture, education, health and medicine, and social welfare. The Foundation funds organizations and projects that exhibit strong leadership and sound management and are expected to achieve a broad, lasting and positive social impact. The Foundation also seeks actively to support projects that facilitate the formation of public-private partnerships as effective means for serving public welfare.
